If you’re like me and got hooked by the first episode of Law and the City, then Episode 2 probably pulled you in even deeper. This show is already doing a great job of blending legal drama with subtle romance and real human emotions.Law and the City Episode 2 gives us more of that — plus a bit of awkward tension, a surprise merger, and a courtroom twist I didn’t see coming.

Law and the City Episode 2: Main Cast
Let’s get into what went down in Law and the City Episode 2 and why I think this show is shaping up to be one of the better legal K-dramas of the year.
Law and the City Episode 2 Recap
The episode starts off with a little surprise — Hee-ji shows up at dinner with the gang, and Ju-hyeong’s reaction is …not warm. She claims they met years ago in Hong Kong when he was a law student and she was still in college. Apparently, he told her they should meet again in Seoul. But Ju-hyeong acts like he has no idea who she is, Cold.

While that awkwardness simmers, we get a major development: the owner of the building, Kim Hyung-min, wants to merge all the law firms into one big firm — Law Firm Hyungmin. At first, the partners are hesitant, but her pitch is smart. They’ll get to keep doing their own thing while benefiting from a larger brand. It’s about stability, image, and power — and let’s be honest, in the legal world, that matters.
Back at work, Hee-ji overhears a client needing someone to accompany him for a property seizure. Against her friends’ advice, she volunteers. That whole situation takes a weird turn when the doctor and his wife literally strip down to stop the seizure. Totally shook, Hee-ji vents to her new lawyer friends during lunch. Meanwhile, Ju-hyeong is handling a case where the bank wants to evict a man, Jang Hyun-seok, over unpaid loans. Turns out, Hee-ji meets the same man later and wants to help him, but her firm doesn’t take pro bono work. When she sees Ju-hyeoung is on the other side of the case, things get tense
Their moral differences come into play fast. Ju-hyeong sticks to what the law says, while Hee-ji is thinking about what’s right for the individual. They clash, both in and out of the courtroom. Things take a turn when a new Supreme Court precedent is announced — one that could save Hyun-seok from being evicted. Ju-hyeong sees it but decides not to act, hoping the other side doesn’t know yet. But Hee-ji does the right thing ( or what she believes is right) and informs Hyun-seok.

At the next hearing, the precedent is brought up, and Ju-hyeong instantly knows Hee-ji was behind it. They have a pretty serious argument afterward. She thinks she helped someone stay in their home; he argues that it’ll cause banks to stop giving loans to people in Hyun-seok’s situation altogether. Neither of them is totally wrong.
By the end, Ju-hyeong’s client pulls the lawsuits, and the firm merger goes through. In the final scene, Hee-ji visits a peaceful spot she read about in Dong-wook’s notes. Ju-hyeong happens to be there too. And just when we think he really didn’t remember her — boom —flashback to them kissing in Hong Kong. So yes, he remembers everything. The real question is: why did he pretend otherwise?
Law and the City Episode 2 Review
Episode 2 hits the sweet spot between story progression and emotional layering. The case involving Jang Hyun-seok isn’t just a legal problem — it’s a moral dilemma. Hee-ji wants to help, and Ju-hyeong wants to stay professional. And watching them both fight for their version of justice? Super compelling. What I love is that the show doesn’t pick sides. You can agree with Hee-ji in one scene and then totally understand Ju-hyeong’s logic in the next. That’s good writing. Nothing is black and while — not the law, and definitely not these characters.

Law and the City Episode 2: Kang You Seok
The ongoing merger plot is also pretty clever. It adds pressure to all the lawyers in a subtle way. Everyone’s thinking about what this means for their careers, and that’s probably going to shape a lot of future storylines. And of course, there’s the tension between Ju-hyeong and Hee-ji. The way he acted like he didn’t remember her? Cold. But now we know there’s more to the story. The flashback kiss in Hong Kong changes everything. I’m dying to know what happened back then and why he’s hiding it.
The group meal scenes are also a nice touch. They give the show warmth and a kind of slice-of-life vibe that balances out the heavier courtroom scenes. You get a real sense of friendship between the characters, which makes you want to root for them even more.
Final Thought
Law and the City Episode 2 really delivers. It’s not just about legal cases — it’s about people trying to do the right thing in a system that doesn’t always reward that. Add in a bit of mystery, some romantic tension, and strong dialogue, and you’ve got yourself a drama worth following. Whether you’re watching for the legal stuff or the emotional depth, there’s something here for everyone. And now that we know Ju-hyeong remembers Hee-ji, it feels like things are about to get really interesting.
